A Getaway in St. Lucia
A sense of exhilaration washed over me as soon as I stepped out of the Hewanorra International Airport. It was exactly how I imagined it to be. Lush rainforests, majestic mountains, and luxury resorts. A haven for an adventurer, St. Lucia offers the perfect mix of seclusion and relaxation.
As I was landing, I saw the crescent-shaped beaches with rough coastlines exposed to the ocean. Now being on this island, I caught a taxicab which took me to my luxury stay at the Sugar Beach, A Viceroy Resort: the premier choice for discerning travelers seeking seclusion and tranquility. I reached there mid – afternoon and was thankful to be instantly pampered to my uttermost desire considering how long and tiring my journey was and their indulgent world- class service at the Rainforest spa kept up to my standards.

Feeling as fresh as a daisy, I walked out of the spa, thrilled to take a look at the sumptuous waterfront driving, full PADI dive facility, chic bars and lounges they had to offer. The next morning I woke up before sunrise to get a head start to my journey to the Tet Paul Nature Trail alongside my travel guide Ricardo who was accommodated by the hotel to escort me and the other adventure- seeking enthusiasts.
The trail's path is wide and civilized. The suns rays filled the sky illuminating each crevice of the land. I was bewildered by the soft rays that bought warmth to my soul. As we reached the top the sun fully revealed itself and alay before us a breathtaking view of the majestic Pitons, to the far away islands of Martinique and the gorgeous southern side of St. Lucia. Watching the gorgeous overview of St. Lucia, time flew by pretty quickly and before I knew it I was being ushered back to my resort to ease my hunger and once I was done, I instantly fell asleep. |
I was awoken out of my peaceful slumber by the buzzing of my phone. It seemed to be a text from Ricardo asking me to head down to the lounge where our ride was waiting for us to head to our next tourist attraction. We arrived at our destination in an hour or so and we were all thrilled to be there because after all, this was the main purpose of our trip: Snorkeling. As I hopped out of the minivan, I stood in awe as I looked upon a home to a wealth of aquatic wonders; Marigot Bay. Volcanic cliffs tumble down to the silver sands of this dramatic beach, hidden away from the crowds on the southern part of the island.
This location is one of St. Lucia’s best snorkeling spots. |
The sea here was nothing like the murky green-blue waves of the English coast. The Caribbean waters were so clear I could see to the seabed below. I could actually see the starfish, the crabs that scuttled and the shoals of fish that darted this way and that. I could spend hours and hours in this serene and blissful atmosphere. Deep under the water, it was like being in a different world. The shoals of bright fish and strange sea flowers decorated the sea. Sadly this is where my adventure in St. Lucia ended but my journey in the Caribbean had just begun...
